Dr. Gregory Olson: Gym Owner, Head Judo Instructor and Chiropractor
The founder of DOCS Gym has been involved in Combat Sports since 1978 as a competitor, instructor and medical consultant. The former President of Judo Minnesota holds a third degree black belt in Kodokan Judo and a second degree black belt in Japanese Jiu Jitsu. In his active career as a competitor he won bronze and silver medals at the USA Masters Nationals.

 

 

Judo Jay Drangeid: General Manager, Judo Instructor
Developing beginners from the start, cross training super-athletes from other sports, and everything in between. Judo-Jay met DOCS Gym owner, Dr. Greg T. Olson, when Greg was the captain of their college wrestling team. Greg introduced Jay to the sport of Judo by bringing him into Coach John Holm’s Jacket-Wrestling gym in Minneapolis in 1978 Jay is a two-time Minnesota State Judo Gold Medalist and has earned a silver and two bronze medals in National-level Masters competitions.

 

Kalin Stroebl: Judo Instructor
Kalin has coached the Tuesday and Thursday kids class for the last 3 years and has contributed to their success at many Judo tournaments.  In addition to being a successful competitor in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kalin is also and successful competitive powerlifter and currently holds the Minnesota State Bench Press title in his weight class.

 

 

Josh Haynie: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor
Josh has been training at DOCS since 2005. He has been an instructor at DOCS teaching classes on Saturdays and Sundays since 2006 working with students of all skill levels. Josh has helped teach and coach Judo and BJJ students, cage fighters, and people interested in learning self defense. He works with children, teens, and adults. Josh has also been appointed an instructor for different academies and projects under DOCS gym. As a long time competitor, he currently holds several titles in Judo and BJJ.

 

Zaur Jalilzade: Judo Instructor
Zaur Jalilzade came to DOCS Gym from Azerbaijan in 2006 with a string of Gold Medals in International competition and an amazing set of Judo skills which he shares with DOCS Gym students.  Zaur teaches competition Judo to both adults and children at his very popular “Adult and Family Judo” practice on Saturday afternoons from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

 

 

Junior BrasilJunior Brasil: Head Instructor BJJ and Judo Instructor
Junior started Judo at the age of 6. Since then, he won well over 30 gold and silver medals in Brazilian regional and national competitions.
After moving to Minnesota in 1999, he continued to win Judo and Brazilian Jiujitsu contests, with a gold at the 2006 US Nationals and 4 golds in the Minnesota State tournament.
He holds a blackbelt in BJJ and a 3rd degree blackbelt in Judo. He has been an instructor here at DOCS Gym since our beginnings in 2005.

 

Julian Santana: Master Instructor Tae Kwon Do
Master Julian Santana started his martial arts training in 1972 and has since achieved Black Belt Status in a few of them, most notably a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do under the IJF. During his teaching career in Minnesota he has instructed several Ramsey County Probation Officers using his experience in teaching cadets at the Yonkers New York Police Academy.  Despite being successful at the County and State level of Olympic Tae Kwon Do competition he prefers the more traditional aspects of martial arts and their applications to real combat fighting situations.
